Al Maxima is a Filipino Canadian artist and the BC winner of the 2022 BMO 1st ART! Award.
Inspired by Baroque paintings and the vibrant colours of Filipino art, Maxima’s practice focuses on issues of suffering, cultural belonging, loneliness and smiling depression. The goal of Maxima’s artwork is to unite us through shared hardships that might otherwise isolate us.
